Sollund, a professor of criminology at the University of Oslo, is a pioneer in the study of animal abuse in green criminology. These conference papers celebrate the 40th anniversary of the left-leaning European Group for the Study of Deviance & Social Control. In many respects, the book also pays homage to the late Stanley Cohen's important work on human rights (with whichGreen Harms and Crimes jousts at several points). Following Sollund's very helpful introduction to current thinking in critical green criminology, the book has 12 other chapters, among whose authors are some of the field's leading figures. Their substantive topics include state-corporate environmental harms, other environmental harms in both national and globalized contexts, animal abuse (capitalism and species decline, poaching and illegal wildlife trades, and biomedical research), and the politics of issue framing and selectivity. The chapters are attentive to theoretical issues, of a high standard, uniformly well written, and very capably edited by both Sollund and her publisher.
